S I D H A R T H
is an aura around the art world that has his roots in punjab and a fragrance throughout the world.
The alchemy of his colours is a mystic magic that becomes the the part of viewer mind and body touching every micro cell . His voice when enters for the first time declares the echo will be a permanent part of what we call ' Myself '.
In recent days i was blessed with some great moments in Ludhiana and Delhi in the ' Toone haari ' company of Sidharh- his paintings,music and films. I am feeling proud to share some photos with you.........

Recently at India Habitat Center, a seminar, film and slide show was organised " Sidharth 2008-09". Slide show of his new paintings- The Dacorated Cow, film about his life and works by K Vikram Singh and a film by Sidharth was on a screen alongwith an introduction by Dr. Madan Gopal Singh and a paper about Sidharth by Sushma Behl.

After the show a wonderful evening was organised at Sidharth's studio-4. A river of sufi singing by Dr. Madan Gopal Singh, Bhai Baldeep Singh and Jassi was flowing alongwith the sculpters, paintings and the colours of the alchemist Sidharth. Everybody was spellbound , timelessness was dominating even when Amarjit Grewal, Navtej Bharti, Jatinderpreet, Amarjit Sathi,Gurpreet and me was coming back to ludhiana .

Bandeep from India Today, Deepak Tondon, Gurdeep, Shivangi and Gaurja were among the gallaxy of artists.

KHAJURAHO - A WONDER IN SANDSTONE

Recently when Ajmer Rode visited India, we planned to visit Khajuro along with Amarjit Grewal – with a dense jungle within . We started from Ludhiana on a taxi and the first night was at Agra. Next morning the Taj was there in front of us with all for what it is known for. The grandure of the Taj was diluted the same evening when we reached the fort of Bundhelkhand just by the roadside view, that pulled us out of taxi to visit. It was a grate feeling to be there with the better architecture of pre electricity era- better than the Taj. We reached tired at khajuraho, booked hotel to wake up and reach at Khajuraho temples before the first ray of sunlight. It was thrilling to be there with a hand and eyes on camera and ears for the guide’s discourse. The other sound of appriciation was “ W O N D E R F UL” with the French pronunciation from our great Amarjit Grewal. Discussing the women created here in better body than Europe. Salute to the mastermind and the artisans and to the excess they have done……….. g r e a t ….

INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL-2008 CHANDIGARH INDIA

KRITYA-2008 at Chadigarh from 14-16 Nov. 2008 An International Festival of POETRY was organised at Art Council, Chandigarh. Poets from 14 countries participated .

Punjab being host state, took the previlliage to translate all poems of different languages into Punjabi. Each Poet recited in his own language, on the backlit screen same poem appeared in English and one of the host poets presented the Punjabi Translation of the same. I was given the opportunity to translate two poets Evelyn Holloway and Uktamoy. It was a wonderful experience for all. Here are some pictures of the festival.

THE DANCING LINES

Like musical compositions, these photo prints are not the recording or representation of any pre-existing events. They, in themselves, are events. Working in the medium of light, Swaranjit Savi has written these visual events like lyrical poems and moulded them into sculptures.
This is a project of visual literacy. Savi has started this project to take on visual pollution created by the political and commercial use of art. This is a fight against the ugliness spreading in self and society. This is also to let the people know that the function of the art is not to promote commercial products and political leaders, but to produce beauty out of the interaction with society and environment.
While going to his office in the morning, he is threatened by the visual pollution of urban life, but in the late evening when he comes back to his home, the way he choreographs and sculpts the lights along the road, that ugliness of modern life is deconstructed.

Photography is the art of using and manipulating the camera and film to produce unique images of reality or formal abstractions. The subject and the stylistic or aesthetic intentions of the photographer will determine the "type" of photography.
In the present exhibition of Swarnjit Savi's photographic work he has explored the journey of light in a very poetic manner. His works are an evolution in thought with the climax being the actualization of a specific idea. A variety of visual ideas are attempted and consequently utilized in the finished product. He also uses the traditional concept and ideas of photography that are then modified by the process of addition and elimination. This creative process to be part of human evolution and to be part of every human being at the same time is part of an artiste's work. It is a matter of contacting this creativity and allowing it to flow in natural and unforced manner. This concept gives the impetus to attempt to construct the essence of movement. Movement in this sense becomes symbolic of the ever changing homeostatic environment and ultimately leads to a continuous new balance.
This allows the viewer a cross sectional examination of landscapes. The evolution of the form precedes the realization of what the form represents, encouraging a constant development and escalation within the work. The constant exploration in one's art making is what keeps the work fresh – alive. His true artistic vision begins and ends with this idea.

An eminent painter,curator and art critic from Bombay

DANCING LINES
Swarnjit Savi’s profile on his blog describes him as a painter, poet, photographer, printer and publisher. An artist with multifaceted interests, Savi is a poet first and his poetic expression reflects in all his artistic creations –writings, paintings and photographs. His love for poetry is too evident in his latest series of photographs- ‘Dancing Lines’.
Using camera as a tool in a unique way, Savi has created a visual poetry in these images. A slower shutter speed of the camera makes a great experiment at night. By playing with the relative movement of the lights and the camera, Savi has created a rhapsody of colourful lines in these photographs . A beautiful blend of line and colour – the two strong elements of design in these images make the visual experience just ecstatic. Like a melodious song the photographs are enjoyable –pleasing to the eye and relaxing to the mind.
